About Us

Soundquest Entertainment is a local Twin Cities Mobile DJ company designed with the customer in mind. We work close with our customers to insure that they have everlasting memories of their special day and event.

After 10 plus years of working for some of the top local DJ companies, Soundquest’ founding DJ’s Terry and John decided to create their own DJ Company. John and Terry believed that too often DJ companies cut corners and provided the bare bone minimum to their clients at a price that was often not reflective of the services provided. We knew that we could do a much better job and promised that we would never cut corners and work closely with our customers to provide the service they deserved.

So in 2004 we ventured off and created Soundquest Entertainment with our main goal to provide the best in music quality and lighting at a price that fair to our clients. We also knew that in order to offer the best in entertainment value we would provide 2 DJ’s for our customers at the same price and often cheaper than our competitors did for one.

That first year we found local gigs and were able to book some Weddings and Parties from our reputations and minor advertising. It certainly was interesting watching the company grow the first year.
Since that first year Soundquest has grown and can now cater to two separate events in an evening while still providing 2 DJs for our customers. We now are able to cater two events per evening allowing us to entertain more than one event per evening. While we’ve hired other DJ’s to work for Soundquest, each has 5 to 10 years previous experience DJing at Weddings, Parties and more.
Even though we’ve grown over the years you can still count on us to take care of your event with the same precision and care as always. We still meet with our clients and treat your event as though there are no others. We want your day to be YOUR day and for you to have the peace of mind you deserve

A little extra about John and Terry:

John Kalvig's background:

John has a certificate in Radio Broadcasting, and for a year worked at KXRZ (99.3 FM, "Z99"). Before and during that time he worked for a DJ company called 4 Events Mobile DJ. After working for 4 Events for over a year the owner decided to go out of business. For the next eight years John worked for a DJ entertainment company out of Central Minnesota.  During his 10 years of DJ Entertaining John has performed at over 450 weddings, DJ and KJ at 6 different Bars (List upon request ), and entertained at over a hundred Private Parties. John has an encyclopedia of knowledge of music, and an ability for creating a great time. Some people even say he can sing.

Terry Bushey background:

Terry was one of the founders of Rising Stars DJ and Karaoke Entertainment. For Several years he and his then partner hosted 3 Karaoke shows a week at a bar in Shakopee MN. In addition to the bar in Shakopee, Terry has also held shows at a few other bars over the years as well. During Terry’s 14 years as a DJ and Karaoke host he has performed at over 200 Parties and events, as well as over 200 Weddings. With a great talent for singing, and a knack for being a convivialist, Terry brings a delight of music and personalization with him to every event he hosts.
